Athletics
The Wolf Pack became the ninth member of the 10-team Western Athletic Conference (WAC) on July 1, 2000. The Wolf Pack competes in seven men's sports: football, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, skiing, and rifle.
Nevada's women's teams also belong to the Western Athletic Conference. Nevada competes in 12 women's sports: volleyball, basketball, tennis, golf, swimming and diving, cross country, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, skiing, rifle, soccer and softball. The NCAA Division I Committee on Athletics Certification has officially recognized the intercollegiate athletic program at the University of Nevada for its substantial conformity with the association's operating principles.
