Nevada Repertory Company
The Nevada Repertory Company is the producing arm of the theatre division. Nevada Repertory Company typically mounts four shows per year. We select a wide variety of genres and styles that provide critical on-stage experience for undergraduate students. In addition, Nevada Rep productions serve as an important component of the Reno cultural scene by providing high quality theatre experiences. Our production schedule is used to train artists, provoke critical thinking, and entertain audiences.
The Dance Program presents three annual concerts:
Fall Dance Festival
The Fall Dance Festival showcases dance students in new choreographic works by faculty, guest artists, and selected student choreographers. Traditionally the Fall Dance Festival also includes guest performances by national professional dance artists. Past guest choreographic artists include: Mihn Tran (2006), Lula Washington (2007), Kristin Heavey/Elment Dance Theatre (2008 & 2009), Katie Elliot and James Lavita/3rd Law Dance/Theatre (2009). Spring Dance Concert
The Spring Dance Concert features performances by dance students in choreographic works by dance faculty and guest artists. Historically, this concert has featured one guest dance company in the second half of the program. Past guest companies include: Alonzo King Lines Ballet, Fua Dia Congo, Robert Moses’ Kin Dance Company, Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Lakota Sioux Indian Dance Theatre, Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Martha Graham Dance Ensemble, Hubbard Street 2, Ballet Hispanico, and Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company. Auditions for the Spring Dance Concert are typically held during the first or second week of classes for the Spring semester. Student Dance Concert
The student dance concert was added to the roster of dance program performances in 2008. This concert takes place during the Spring semester in the Redfield Studio Theatre. All performers and choreographers are current dance students. Completion of the Choreography II course is required for all interested student choreographers and all works in this concert must be auditioned for a panel of dance faculty. The dance program presents this concert in collaboration with the student organization the Dance Co-op. Select student works are invited for performance on the Fall Dance Festival program the following semester.
